What is IUI?

IUI or Intrauterine Insemination is one of the reproductive technologies that helps to solve infertility problem in a way that is similar to nature.

Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) is one of the reproductive technologies to treat infertility. The procedure is to inject the selected healthy sperm into the womb during the ovulation period. This procedure will make it easy for the sperm to approach the fallopian tube and fertilize with the egg naturally.

IUI is suitable for:

The couples with the infertility problem, husband has weak sperm or wife has the abnormal ovulation or the endometriosis.

IUI Procedures

  • Couple: Consult with the doctor, physical check-up, planning for IUI.
  • Female: Ovarian stimulation – the doctor will use medicine to stimulate eggs, and then the patient can take an ultrasound to check the size of the eggs. If the egg is mature enough, the doctor will appoint the date for ovarian stimulation injection. The ovulation will occur within 24 hours, and the doctor will inject sperm into the uterine cavity allowing the healthiest sperm to fertilize with the egg. After resting for 15-30 minutes, the patient can return home.
  • Male: On the ovulation date of the female, the doctor will appoint to do IUI. The couple must stop having sex for 2-3 days to get the good quality sperm. After screening the healthy sperm, it can be injected into the female’s body.
  • After taking IUI procedures for 2-3 weeks, if the menstruation is not started, the female can do the pregnancy test or get further consultation from the doctor for the next IUI.

Intrauterine Insemination is considered to be one of the methods to treat infertility that can increase the opportunity of having a child in a way that is similar to nature. For more information, please consult with our specialist at Prime Fertility Clinic.

Frequent drinking and hangovers increase the risk of infertility

Frequent drinking and hangovers increase the risk of infertility

Frequent drinking and hangovers increase the risk of infertility

Frequent parties and hangovers can directly and indirectly affect your health, especially for those who are already planning to have children. This makes it even more difficult to have children!

Because frequent and large amounts of alcoholic beverages cause the hormones in the body to function abnormally.

What are the effects of drinking alcohol and hangovers?

In men > Abnormal testosterone production results in the body producing less sperm, poor quality sperm, and reduced fertilization ability.

In women > Abnormalities in the pituitary glands hormone system and hormones that control ovarian function result in no ovulation, abnormal uterine lining, and increased chances of premature birth or miscarriage.

It also reduces the absorption of vitamins and minerals, increasing the risk of malnutrition such as magnesium and potassium. It also comes with negative effects from a “hangover” such as insufficient sleep, restless sleep, headaches, dizziness, vomiting, dehydration, fatigue, etc. These are indirect negative effects that affect the body.

Therefore, drinking excessive amounts of liquor, beer, wine, or other alcoholic beverages is a cause of infertility and reduces the chances of having children by up to 50%.

If anyone is planning a pregnancy and still has problems controlling their alcohol consumption, you may need to consider consulting a mental health professional or medical professional to find a treatment plan.
