The importance of technology in embryo culture

Before the embryo transfer, we need to screen and select the embryos with good qualification in terms of pleasant morphology and normal chromosomes in order to increase the success rate.

At Prime Fertility Clinic, we use “Embryo Grading” as a tool to identify which embryos are adequate to be transferred.

During 2 stages of embryonic development, embryo grading will be performed by the embryologist who is a specialist as following:
Cleavage stage (referred to the international criteria of Istanbul Consensus Scoring System)
Blastocyst stage (referred to the international scoring system for evaluating blastocysts proposed by Gardner and Schoolcraft, 1999)

Apart from embryo grading, we also have technology to detect chromosome abnormalities in embryos called Preimplantation Genetic Testing (PGT). This technology is known as Next Generation Sequencing (NGS). NGS gives us high accuracy therefore it is the best method nowadays to detect genetic abnormalities inside embryos thoroughly and select the qualified embryos to be transferred to the uterine cavity.

Some beneficial technologies are used in modern embryo culture e.g., real time embryo monitoring, AI based assessment for embryo selection. To use AI system, we require a huge number of data to be considered with some parameters such as embryo grade and chromosome analysis results. Both real time monitoring method and AI system are only a part of evaluation criteria.

At Prime Fertility Clinic, we provide embryo culture using MINC benchtop incubator for every patient. Embryos of each case are raised individually in micro-drop (closed system). Therefore, we can control pH level, temperature and humidity then create the suitable environment for embryo culture.

One micro-drop is a place for one embryo to grow up. Embryologist can recognize embryos by labelling number individually. This procedure reduces interference against the embryo culture.

Patients of Prime Fertility Clinic will receive their embryo report via telephone or e-mail. Furthermore, they can review their medical records from “Prime Fertility Center” application enable patients to access their personal information anytime.

Satisfied success rate has been shown during the first trimester, 2021. Pregnancy rate is 79% among patients who experienced ICSI treatment at Prime Fertility Clinic.

Frequent drinking and hangovers increase the risk of infertility

Frequent drinking and hangovers increase the risk of infertility

Frequent parties and hangovers can directly and indirectly affect your health, especially for those who are already planning to have children. This makes it even more difficult to have children!

Because frequent and large amounts of alcoholic beverages cause the hormones in the body to function abnormally.

What are the effects of drinking alcohol and hangovers?

In men > Abnormal testosterone production results in the body producing less sperm, poor quality sperm, and reduced fertilization ability.

In women > Abnormalities in the pituitary glands hormone system and hormones that control ovarian function result in no ovulation, abnormal uterine lining, and increased chances of premature birth or miscarriage.

It also reduces the absorption of vitamins and minerals, increasing the risk of malnutrition such as magnesium and potassium. It also comes with negative effects from a “hangover” such as insufficient sleep, restless sleep, headaches, dizziness, vomiting, dehydration, fatigue, etc. These are indirect negative effects that affect the body.

Therefore, drinking excessive amounts of liquor, beer, wine, or other alcoholic beverages is a cause of infertility and reduces the chances of having children by up to 50%.

If anyone is planning a pregnancy and still has problems controlling their alcohol consumption, you may need to consider consulting a mental health professional or medical professional to find a treatment plan.
