What is Hysterosalpingography? Hysterosalpingography (HSG) is a radiological diagnosis to evaluate uterine cavity and fallopian tubes. This is a special radiological examination by putting some iodinated contrast material through cervix and let it flow inside uterine cavity and both of fallopian tubes. The procedure is to fill the uterine cavity with some contrast material that can be seen by a vaginal x-ray. Normally, this material moves from uterine cavity to both of fallopian tubes then abdomen respectively. Using x-ray pictures, doctor can detect some abnormalities of the uterine cavity and the fallopian tubes e.g., uterine polyps, uterine malformation, fallopian tube obstruction or adhesions around fallopian tubes.
