Process and procedures of egg retrieval, egg freezing
- Hormone testing: It is the first step of egg freezing. The doctor will examine the pelvic organs to look for abnormalities, such as uterine fibroids, endometriosis. In the meantime, the ovaries will be checked on day 2-3 of period to assess the follicle count before starting treatment. After that, blood test will be proceeded to evaluate the ovarian function in that menstrual cycle.

And there is an injection to inhibit the ovulation from happening before a specified time.
- Follow up the development of eggs: Hormone testing and transvaginal ultrasound will be performed periodically in order to monitor the size and the number of eggs regarding the stimulation.
- Injection: When getting the suitable amount and the right size of eggs, the doctor will prescribe an injection to induce ovum maturity. It will make the eggs ready for the next step which is egg retrieval.
- Egg retrieval: 34-36 Hours after the last injection, the doctor will perform egg retrieval by using the ultrasound scan to guide the site of eggs. After that, a special needle will be used to puncture the ovaries and aspirate the eggs. This is the procedure under anesthesia and it will take about 30 minutes.
